Examples of research fields in Systems Biology that have profited from contributions from Physics. Methodology developed in Physics has been adapted and applied to biological systems, supporting a systemic understanding of these systems. In this survey we focus on physical contributions to progress in the development of dynamic modeling approaches, to concepts for the characterization and analysis of dynamic network models, to methodology for model inference and parameter estimation and to a unifying framework for functional robustness of biological systems
